Race Format

The first HYROX workout is 1000 meters on the Ski Erg. The Ski Erg primarily targets the arm, shoulder, and core muscles. However, if you do this workout right, the lower body muscles will also be involved in the movement. This makes the Ski Erg a total body workout.

Workout number two is the Sled Push. Prepare well, the Sled Push is a workout that you should do at least once before your race. Here you need the muscles of the lower body, especially the anterior thigh muscles. In addition, the entire posterior muscle chain and core muscles are involved. Also make sure you wear shoes with some grip!

Next up is 50 meters of The Sled Pull. Get ready to engage not only your glutes, biceps, and back, but your entire core.

Created in 1939, this full body workout is both loved and hated at the same time. If you’re new to HYROX, you might struggle with Burpees, but most of our athletes now consider them one of their favorite exercises. So what is a Burpee Broad Jump? Simply put, it’s a variation of the Burpee that replaces the upward jump at the end with a forward jump. So you jump forward instead of upward.

Workout number 5 is the second Ergometer in the competition. Rowing 1000 meters on the Concept2 RowErg marks the beginning of the second half of the HYROX race. Now keep up your pace!

For the Farmers Carry you have to train your upper back muscles (trapezius), the entire core muscles and of course the forearms/hands (grip strength). You walk in a straight line with heavy weights in both hands. The weights differ per division. A training that you can easily practice with your weekly groceries.

10, 20 or 30 kilograms on your back while doing lunges? Yes, that's workout number 7. This workout mainly focuses on the thighs and glutes.

The final boss – The Wall Balls. You’ve come this far, there’s no turning back now. This is the final exercise. Take a deep breath, finish those Wall Balls! The weights and number of times depend on your division. After that, you’ll cross the finish line and officially become a member of the #HYSOCIETY of Fitness.
